Chuck is an urban and regional planner who specializes in creating CommunityViz applications. He brings 25 years of experience in public and private sector planning working on current and long range planning processes.
Mr. Donley has presented papers at dozens of conferences and workshops. These include the American Planning Association, ESRI International User Conference, Land Trust Alliance, Transportation Visualization Conference, Western Planner, regional ESRI user group conferences (SWUG, SHRUG etc.), and URISA.
Planning Magazine twice published his writings, both times involving applying GIS to planning issues. ArcNews published his article called Ski Resort GIS Challenge: Creating Affordable Housing for Local Residents National Park Service awarded the Chickasaw project, as best GIS project for the Intermountain Region.
At CommunityViz, Chuck served as Technical Director, managing Technical Support, Training and the Professional Services Group. He also provided consulting services to CommunityViz customers guiding them through project conceptualization and implementation. He also conducted CommunityViz user training, both in a traditional classroom format and customized for the customer. Mr. Donley guided the CommunityViz Build-out wizard from conceptualization, to design, to marketing, and actual use. The wizard helps users assess land use plans by calculating the amount of housing and non-residential space, place associated buildings on a map and visualize the future landscape in 3D. Chuck participated in CommunityViz product development, sales and marketing efforts.
Chuck operated Donley & Associates Inc. for 6 years, a land planning firm providing design and approvals for local developers. He also worked for Routt County, Arapahoe County, Town of Vail, Nakata Planning Group, and URS Consultants. Chuck grew up in Colorado Springs and has lived in Colorado throughout his life, however he has worked on projects nationally and internationally. Examples of these places include: Las Vegas (Nevada), Ames (Iowa), Yellowstone (Wyoming), Aden (Yemen), Pasadena (California), Tucson (Arizona), Orange County (New York), Presidio of San Francisco (California), Bremerton (Washington), Outer Banks (North Carolina), Madison (Wisconsin), Vancouver (British Columbia), Augusta (Georgia), San Bernardino (California) and Pamunjon (South Korea).
